North Korea has developed its own operating system based on the Linux Kernel. The “Red Star” operating system has been under development since 2006. According to a blog by a Russian university student identified as Mikhail, the operating system is known as Red Star and is on sale for $5 in both server and client versions.
The Red Star operating system requires a minimum of 800 MHz CPU and 256MB of RAM. Red Star’s default applications include Open Office and Pigeon IM along with other utilities. It has however been reported that the operating system comes with a default North Korean firewall application called Pyongyang Fortress and an antivirus software called Woodpecker.

No browsers wars or Opera moaning here as it is reported that the Red Star operating system has only one browser called “My Country” which is based on the Mozilla Firefox .
LOL @ north korea. Oh well, atleast their citizens get to use a computer. Won’t be too long before they start figuring out how to hack around it, that’s the beauty of Linux!
