China Facing Scarcity of IP Connections: Each and every internet user knows something about the internet connection and its settings. You can see in your LAN settings that you have to specify an IP address to connect to the internet. Some of us might be using the option to connect automatically when our ISP has abundant free addresses. But this is going to be one heck of a problem in China….
According to tha largest selling Chinese newspaper People’s Daily, China’s IP addresses would soon be exhausted and this is going to happen in only two to three years according to the current distribution rate.

The internet technology used widely in the world today is IPv4. The maximum addresses can be 4.3 billion and China currently has 380 million internet users and one address is being used by two of them. (If they just separate it would DOUBLE instantly.)
The most probable solution to this dilemma is shifting to IPv6. 
IPv6 has a vastly larger address space than IPv4. This results from the use of a 128-bit address, whereas IPv4 uses only 32 bits.The new address space thus supports 2EXP128 (about 3.4×10EXP38) addresses. This is so much larger than IPv4 that some people say that even rocks can be given IP addresses using it. 
But shifting to this newer technology would lead to the huge expenditures replacing the older machines and systems by newer ones. The internet operators have started preparations for it and edu.cn has even started to use this kind of IP as well….

Yes, I think so.
3.4×10 to the 38? That's plenty more than enough to give one to each rock. In fact, we could give one to each grain of sand on the planet, and still have plenty left for every star in the observable universe AND then assign one IPv6 address to every second which has passed between the big bang and now.
2^128 is far, far bigger than necessary. 2^64 would have been more sensible, taking up half the space but still providing over 10 quintillion addresses.
On the other hand, with IPv6 we can be pretty confident we won't ever run out.
